Personalization allows you to connect meaningfully with potential clients. By using human speech and personal touches, you build stronger relationships with potential clients. According to McKinsey, personalization can increase revenue by 5–15% and marketing ROI by 10–30%.

A personalization formula can help you add structure to your personalization efforts, making it possible to personalize at scale and create messages that resonate with each prospect.

Let’s walk through some tips for creating a personalization formula:

Step 1: Use their words

Consider topics a prospect has discussed in an article, blog, or LinkedIn post. These things are likely top of mind for them. We recommend tying 2-3 words the recipient used into your engagement with them to capture their attention.

Step 2: Create the art of the possible

Possibility language unlocks potential and allows you to leverage the benefits of your product/service offerings. Consider adding the following sentence starters:

  • What if you could...
  • Imagine if you could...
  • I have an idea how you could...

Step 3: Identify a result

People love results. Incorporating statistics provides visual proof that a goal was achieved. Here are some examples:

  • reduce churn by 30%
  • get your business entirely digital by 2025
  • leverage AI to multiply the value of your workforce

Step 4: Make an ask

The purpose of engaging a prospect is typically to move the conversation further. Making an ask allows you to clearly state your intentions to the prospect. Here are some examples:

  • …interested in discussing?
  • …how much do you think that would save you?
  • …could that put you at a competitive advantage?

Now, let’s put it all together in an example:
