Question

A/B testing subject line

I have a few cadences where I want to A/B test the subject line in the first email. I then have 3 additional emails but when I choose ‘thread’ it only gives the option for ‘A’ in the previous email and not B. What happens when I launch the cadence? Will everyone getting the additional emails get threaded to the A option only (even if they receive the B option for the first email)?

TIA!

Hi @CCZerbey, thank you for your question. Nice to meet you, I’m Tina, a Senior Customer Success Manager at Salesloft.

To answer your question, variant testing is truly random so if a person gets variant A on the first step, they are still just as likely to be added to either variant A, C, or C on their second step. The nice thing is that with a threaded email, it is a true reference to the subject line they sent, so even if it looks like it is only allowing a reference to the first variant in the first step, it will automatically thread to the subject line of whatever variant they initially received.

Hope that answers your question! Happy lofting!

Thanks Tina! To confirm - I have 2 variants in email #1 (subject line 1 and subject line 2). Email #2 has only 1 variant BUT if someone received Email #1 subject line 1 they will thread with that subject line and if someone received email #1 subject line 2, they will thread with that subject line, right?
