When I have an account linked to CRM, the account pulls in the “Industry” field.

I want everyone who gets linked to an account to get that data copied on to the person record.

I only want to use Salesloft to do this. Lets get creative.

Example.

Person A gets created in Salesloft and associated to an account based on email domain.

When person gets linked to account based on that rule, fill in the person industry with the account industry.

Hi Mike,

Love where you’re going with this, as I’m a huge proponent of data integrity and being able to leverage said data.

Now, there may be a few ways to achieve this depending on your configuration and intended goal, so I would first recommend consulting your Salesloft Account Team as a starting point, but since you mention only wanting to use Salesloft to do this, here’s what I’m thinking…

In order for an Account record to sync from CRM to Salesloft, Salesloft requires that ALL accounts include the company name and domain in order to import accounts. Based on this, you could establish an automation rule with the following trigger/criteria/ action:

  • Trigger: When a Person changes in Salesloft
  • Criteria: Account - Domain is not null
  • Criteria: Account - Industry equals XYZ
  • Action: Set Person Fields, Industry, to XYZ

Things to consider..
1) You will likely need to create a custom field (if you don’t already) on the Person level for ‘Industry’ to begin updating the data to the Person level.

2) How many industries do you serve? Depending on the number of industries would necessitate multiple variations of the automation rule (1:1 ratio of Industry to auto rule action, ie Set Person Fields).

If you’re open to brainstorming live, please join us during one of our x2 daily Office Hour sessions at 9am EST / 2pm EST to chat through this. We can also help connect you with your account team if needed!

Thank you for the response. Yes, that would work, but no its not really feasible.

Product development take away. Let us use dynamic fields. In an orchestration platform, I should have more power to map things out. I could solve this with 1 automation rule or create 75.

Hi Mike,

Appreciate the feedback. Dynamic fields in automation rules would be a phenomenal update!  I’ll pass this along to our Product Team and would encourage you to submit feedback under your Profile Settings page as well.

I will do it again, but I have been giving this feedback for well over a year now.
